New Year's Ayurvedic Cleanse

Meet our Ayurveda whiz friend Celine Wallace, founder of Sattva Soul, an Ayurvedic wellness company focusing on Ayurvedic medicinal supplements backed by women's retreats in Bali & New Zealand.

We chatted with Celine about a step-by-step guide on how to do your own Ayurvedic cleanse at home.

Celine often works with clients looking for ways to feel their best, balance their Agni (digestive fire), to come into a space of more inner peace and alignment. Life moves in cycles, and coming into the New Year is a time for us to reflect on the previous cycle of our lives and how we have been showing up for ourselves.

Here are three great Ayurvedic Tri-Doshic rituals that Celine recommends her clients to incorporate into their Dinacharya (daily routine), no matter what their Doshic Vikruti is.

  1. Prana Vikshana/ Bhramari Pranayama Meditation

Prana Vikshana, or Breath awareness meditation is the practice of observing your breath, where Prana means vital energy or exhalation and Vikshana means following your breathing closely.

Place one hand on your belly and one on your chest to connect to your body and breathe slowly. Prana Vikshana gives the mind something to focus on; thus, the mind stops generating new thought patterns. It requires observing the rhythmic flow of life-giving air as it enters the body with each breath.

  1. Triphala + Turmeric

Triphala is an Ancient Ayurvedic gut capsule for digestion, detox, and inflammation, and it has been taken since 5000 BC. Tri stands for 'Three fruits' and is a powerful herbal remedy consisting of Haritaki, Bibhitaki, and Amla. This is a great herb to add to your daily routine to help cleanse your GI tract after the silly season. It helps detoxify by removing fatty deposits and toxins from the intestines, supporting regularity and cleansing. Sattva Soul, a specific blend, is also custom formulated with Organic Turmeric, as well as Organic Triphala, so at the same time you are cleansing, you're also receiving the added benefits of anti-inflammatory properties to ease bloating and inflammation.
